When I wake up 'on the wrong side of the bed' in the morning, or I wake up late, or I slept badly, there are so many voices in my head telling me 'today's going to be a bad day'.
Did you know the story we consistently tell ourselves is what our brain believes? So if you tell yourself that it's going to be a bad day just because you had a little less sleep than you would have liked then PROBABLY you're going to be snappier with your boss, have an argument with your partner, miss the bus etc.
But if you wake up and consciously choose a different narrative — even when the circumstances aren't ideal — everything shifts.
My morning routine is non-negotiable. Not because it's complicated, but because it sets the tone. Here's what works for me:
Wake up. Don't look at your phone. Drink water. Move your body — even just 5 minutes of stretching. Breathe intentionally for 2 minutes. Set one intention for the day. Then begin.
The morning is yours. It's the one part of the day that hasn't been claimed by anyone else's agenda. Protect it. Use it to remind yourself who you are and how you want to show up.
Your morning creates your day. Your days create your life.
