What is Somatic?

The word 'Somatic' comes from the Greek word 'Soma' which refers to your living, breathing,

sensing body.

Intentional somatic practices, such as Yoga, Tai Chi, dancing, making art, going for a walk, nourishing yourself through food and even breathing, aim to guide you towards being more aware, present and understanding of your inner experience.

For example, the more you become aware (and pay attention to) your Somatic or bodily experience, the more likely you are to recognise your emotional needs and learn how to manage or cope with the range of human experiences.

Rather than thinking, "I need to be calm all the time", it reminds you that you are human with a wide range of emotional needs that all need to be expressed and validated. This helps you grow your capacity and learn to respond or adapt to life in a healthy and non-harming way.

It encourages you to connect with the natural rhythms and cycles of being human - rather than forcing yourself into 'machine mode'.

How 1:1 Sessions Are Structured

Step 1: Setting Intentions & Co-Creating Your Programme

We begin by exploring what you are seeking for support with, how you want to feel and what’s possible in our time together.

We co-create a programme that supports your future self and revisit your intentions as you evolve.

Every session begins with a somatic check-in to settle into your body and the present moment.

A long with a multitude of layers, we explore:

  • What’s been present for you

  • What’s felt supportive or challenging

  • What your body is communicating

  • Coaching around your current relationship towards nutrition and your body

Sessions flow intuitively while remaining anchored in your long-term goals and intentions.

What To Expect Physically

Step 2: Somatics is a body-led approach. We work with your nervous system, current sensations that arise, breath and movement.

Sessions include accessible movement designed to:

  • Release tension

  • Enhance focus and creativity

  • Improve body awareness

  • Reconnect you with your relationship to rest

Your body may express emotion through movement, breath or sensation. We allow this expression to move gently and safely.

What To Expect Emotionally & Mentally

Step 3: 1:1 sessions can be grounding, supportive and compassionate, while being inspiring, creative, open and driven.

You may experience:

  • Emotional release

  • Clarity and insight

  • Energy and motivation

We build your capacity to feel and process emotions rather than suppress them.

You are always in choice.

Between Sessions

  • Weekday email check-ins

  • Additional practices and resources

  • Programme structure for reflection and integration

"Niamh makes sure to always provide a safe space for me to share. I love that she started each session with a grounding meditation. She is very compassionate, empathetic and she often finds ways to relate to what I have to say. I learned so much
from Niamh."
