I wrote these poems from a heart centred space in which I am completely vulnerable. It is only with vulnerability one can share poems and I respect any human being for sharing their deepest thoughts and words with the world in such a way.
Poetry is a beautiful way to share thoughts with the world. During a yoga class, students are especially open to taking in these words and embodying them into their own practice and life.
In order to really understand a poem, I think it is important to listen or read it multiple times. So whether you are a yoga teacher or a yoga practitioner, I invite you to intertwine poetry into your yoga practice.
Divinity
Oozing divinity
Breaking down boundaries of the unknown
Only the stars know the answers
Only the dark blanket of the night sky speaks the truth
When the lights go down
and no-one is home
the words uttered in
the stark light of day are seen
the beauty of the masks under water
safe yet dark
cold yet light
empty yet full
stolen kisses
only noted by your truest self
seen late at night under the endless sky
It's Always You
How hard it must be to be you
under that mask you paint
I can see you
no need to hide
no need to be afraid
remember your childlike tendencies
they hover, still ever present
under the picture you paint for the world
it's you
right there
it's always you
in love again
Only my heart knows
moving between longing love
and loving long
falling in love with the moments
with the pieces of my heart I left around the world
with the edges of my being I'm not sure exist yet
with the places I can't quite put my finger on
the only one that knows
the places that my heart desires
is you
my desires trickle to my reality
my safe and holy space
Courage
Courage isn't found in the bottom of the glass
Nor in the end of the road
It's not found in the multitude of distractions
Or the paths well trodden
Courage is found in the souls night
in the flickering flame of your soul
in the places only the unknown can call
Courage is in your dark
It is in your light
Your courage is your key
To a night encased in the unexpected
The elements
I kiss the embers
floated in from the ocean
on the foam from the whispers
of the wind
that has left it's mark
i caress the dancing light
sun shining
from the break in the clouds
casting shadows
on what was once
the light
I make love to the grittiness
The bountiful adventure
Of what lies beneath
our toes
I dance in the wind
As it sweeps me off my feet
and to a place only the rainbow goes
The elements
